Everything is going well. You’ve set your goal/intention and you’re taking daily action to move towards it. You feel in the flow, until life seems to plant a left hook on your chin and you feel as if you’re back in the ‘Boxing Ring Of Life’. What do you do?

  • Do you quit and walk away? OR
  • Do you stop, re-group, pick yourself back up and carry on?

A couple of weeks ago I was watching a boxing match with some friends and the persistence and determination that was shown by the two boxers was unbelievable. They kept going right to the sound of the bell in the final round.

Events will always ‘happen’ in life and it’s the meaning that we place on these events that will either make us or break us. Treat the journey of life and the challenges we face as opportunities to grow and learn. See life through the eyes of a child again …… as one big adventure.

When you were a child learning to walk, I’m sure you stood for the 1st time rocking from side to side, and then fell. You then held onto someones hands or the edge of the furniture, regaining your balance and put one foot in front of the other, gingerly taking your first steps. Until you fell again. You then repeated that process over and over again, until you could walk on your own.

Why then as adults, do we tend to forget this inner persistence that we all had as children learning to walk? I’m sure you didn’t say to yourself. ‘You know what, I’m just not good at walking. I don’t think I’m cut out for it. I’m going to spend the rest of my life crawling. I’ve mastered that one.’ You were determined to walk and kept going until you did, didn’t you.

So back to you again. When you feel ‘off track’ with life and you feel you’re not making any headway with your goals. Stop and think of the intention you’ve set, ask yourself how much do you really want it? What will you feel when you achieve it? Is it gratitude, wholeness, success, relief, freedom to name a few. Tap into those feelings. Re focus and keep going, talking one step in front of the other.

And remember

Wish It … Dream It … Do It!
